Works well with pre-paid Verizon phones., June 29, 2011

This review is from: Verizon Wireless Samsung Network Extender SCS-26UC4 (Wireless Phone Accessory)

This product works well – We live in an area of “full coverage” according to Verizon, when in reality our area has coverage only at one neighbor’s tree 100 yards down the road! We installed this product, and went from zero bars to 3 or 4 bars when within about 25 feet of the extender. Product set up was not difficult.

Verizon states that the booster does not work with pre-paid phones. Verizon customer support told me that “the technology is different”, and that only post-paid phones work with the extender….! Not true! Our pre-paid phones work great with the extender. It appears that this line is simply an attempt to up-sell Verizon customers.

One snag: Verizon will not register this product’s MAC ID unless you have a post paid account. This seems strange, especially when you are extending their network at your expense! So anyway, if you don’t have an account, you’ll have to have a friend with a post-paid account register the extender.

Overall a good and functional product!

Have a wonderful day! Al Schnorgenburg

It works flawlessly as advertised. The only snag is that seller has to “deactivate the link with their account” before you could register this device with your account to manage the access. However, you don’t have to register the device and everyone in your neighborhood will love this mini cell tower.
